Google has fifty percent of the search business in the U.S.
The numbers shouldn't be too surprising, since Google has half of the search business in the U.S.
According to the most recent numbers published by Nielsen/NetRatings, Google has 50 percent of the
market. Number two is Yahoo and number three is Microsoft's MSN, which accounted for 22 percent and
11 percent of the market, respectively.

More on the practice of click fraud in the search industry
In related news, SEMPO and online competitive intelligence firm Hitwise, New York,
will start streaming a feed of search term data on the SEMPO site. On SEMPO.org, Hitwise
will start streaming the top 10, branded U.S. search terms across 20 online industries rotated
weekly. Hitwise’s “Search Intelligence” data represent the search behavior of 10 million U.S.
Internet users across the top engines.

Search engines, and the never-ending case about keyword infringements
A court ruled that a related case involving real estate companies could proceed to trial. Google won
a lawsuit filed by Geico that alleged that Google's search ad business encourages unlawful use of
trademarks, but other cases are pending against the search giant.

Mobile search getting very significant investments at Google
In Britain there is one mobile phone for every person, while in some parts of Scandinavia mobile
ownership is almost double that rate. “Looking at these numbers, it becomes very obvious that in
the future people will want to access information on the web with a device they carry with them,”
Mr Nishar said. The Google director would not divulge how much money the company is pouring
into its mobile division, but said: “Mobile is absolutely getting very significant investment.”
